By 2010, the Universidad Católica de Temuco will have a leading role in the development of the Araucania Region. It will be acknowledged nationally as an institution committed to educating people, generating knowledge and having a cultural presence which contributes to the solution of regional problems from a Christian perspective of social responsibility and sustainable human development.
The Universidad Católica de Temuco works for a wholesome development of its students and the community in southern Chile:
The Universidad Católica de Temuco is based on three identity features that determine its vocation, sense, and purpose from which to contribute to the sciences and the arts and to serve society:
Teaching, research and extracurricular programs are designed and approved according to their quality and rigor and also to their social pertinence as to their capacity to contribute to the social, economic and educational development of the region.
The UC Temuco puts the scientific and technological achievements to the service of the human person and his/her dignity. Inspired by the catholic ideals, attitudes and principles, this institution practices and invites the community to live the Christian values such as love, solidarity, fraternity, and the search of truth and justice. In the university sphere, where its Catholicism is put into practice, the UC Temuco promotes the exercise of the critical thought and the practice of dialogue and pluralistic respect towards other beliefs. This is especially important due to the pluri-ethnic community in which the university task is performed.
The UC Temuco wants to collaborate with the wholesome development of the region, educating people and graduating professionals prepared to satisfy its demands and needs, with a special emphasis in the balance between productive and socio-cultural development, in the search for a better distributive and socio-cultural justice.
